About Us
Aware
Consulting has six permanent staff positions, including
principals and senior scientists for environmental consulting
services and safety consulting services. The principals and
senior scientists each have decades of experience, and many
function as project managers. In addition to this core team, we
have part-time temporary professionals we bring in as needed.
Our part-time employees are highly-qualified, experienced
individuals who for a variety of personal reasons prefer to work
part-time. This group of individuals allows Aware Consulting to
be responsive to the needs of our clients while avoiding a cycle
of laying-off proven, high-quality workers when work demand is
low and rapid hiring of unproven new employees when work demand
increases. This business model, along with the value we place
on our employees, has resulted in an extremely low staff
turnover. We believe it is a fundamental aspect of our ability
to consistently provide the highest quality, personalized
service to our clients.

Maggie Corbin,
the Manager of the
Graham Branch Office of Aware, will serve as the Program Manager
and principal point of contact for services provided to the City
of Tacoma. Ms. Corbin will be responsible for coordinating the
resources appropriate for each project’s specific requirements,
and ensuring that the City’s project needs are met – on-time,
within budget, and at a high level of quality. The Graham
Branch Office is very near Tacoma, allowing Ms. Corbin to be
immediately responsive if needed for meetings and/or site
visits. As on call needs arise, Aware would evaluate the
project work schedule and develop a resource allocation plan,
including Ms. Corbin’s availability, to ensure we are prepared
to provide the service.
Ms. Corbin has extensive experience
managing and implementing air quality emission reduction
programs. She worked for five years as the Air Quality Program
Manager for the Port of Seattle’s Aviation Division. In this
position, she was responsible for implementation of an
alternative fuels program for vehicles operating at the airport
to offset emissions from a major construction project. She
developed and managed the Port of Seattle’s natural gas vehicle
program which included construction of a natural gas fueling
station, replacement of the Port’s diesel bus fleet with natural
gas buses, and purchase of natural gas vehicles as gasoline or
diesel vehicles/equipment were retired. She also drafted
construction specifications for major airport projects to
incorporate the use of cleaner fuels and better environmental
practices. Her work at Aware Consulting has included
development of a green vehicle fleet standard and most recently,
implementation of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency’s Seaport
Truck Scrappage and Retrofits for Air in the Puget Sound (ScRAPS)
truck upgrade program.
Ms. Corbin also has wide-ranging
experience with air quality analysis. During the time she
worked at the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, she evaluated
emission reduction strategies to address regional nonattainment
areas and impacts from toxic air contaminants. She was the lead
for developing programs to regulate industrial sources of air
toxics. At Aware Consulting, she has completed several projects
to evaluate air emissions, including estimating emissions from
airport taxi operations and completing greenhouse emission
inventories for industrial facilities and for northwest zoos and
aquariums.
Ms. Corbin has completed air quality
permitting and compliance work throughout her 25 year career.
At the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, she gained experience
writing and enforcing new source review permits and operating
permits for industrial facilities located in the Puget Sound
region. She has also developed and trained both regulatory
staff and industrial personnel on enforcement of and compliance
with air quality regulations. At the Port of Seattle, she was
responsible for compliance with local, state and federal air
quality regulations for the Port’s industrial operation at the
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
