Air Quality Permitting
Permit timing and operating flexibility are critical to your business success. Recent Federal air program reforms and Alaska's revised air quality control regulations have increased permitting flexibility, and Aware Consulting can help you apply these advantages to your facility.

Our team is well versed in federal, state and local laws and regulations, and the regulatory process. We have established good working relationships with key players at the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and other state and federal regulatory agencies.

We can identify all applicable requirements for your new or modified facility, formulate a permit strategy that maximizes your operating flexibility, and assist you in negotiating with regulators to obtain the most advantageous and effective permit terms possible.

Air Quality Permit Decision Tree©
Alaska's newly revised air permit program makes the permit system much more flexible with several new permitting options, but the tradeoff is that it is now even more difficult to figure out which type of permit you need. Aware developed an Air Quality Permit Decision Tree© to help environmental staff navigate through the complex alternatives and quickly determine compliance strategies.

The Tree is available in a Microsoft Word format with embedded hotlinks for navigating through the decision boxes and hyperlinks to the various regulations online.  Order your copy of our Permit Decision Tree, which is also offered as a laminated 11" x 17" wall chart or an 8-1/2" x 14" version for your files, by following the link above.

Environmental Management Systems / Loss Control
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a systematic businesslike approach to ensuring compliance and responsible environmental decision-making. An EMS consists of practices and procedures, defined responsibilities, and methods of measurement, that help control losses in production and/or staff time and avoid costly violations.

Aware Consulting can develop an EMS to suit your needs, and conduct regular system audits.

Spill Cleanup and Release Reporting
Spills and atmospheric releases are subject to state and federal reporting requirements, and spills of oil and hazardous substances must be cleaned up under an approved plan.

Aware Consulting can help you develop a CERCLA compliance plan and procedures to ensure timely reporting, develop a matrix of reporting requirements for substances present at your facility, and assist in preparing appropriate cleanup plans.
